Biography
Dr. Chih-Yang Tsai, Professor of Operations and
Decision Sciences, earned his Ph.D. degree in Operations Research from Stern
School of Business , New York University
(1993) and his MBA degree from Tatung
University
in Taiwan. He has been a faculty member in the Business School of
SUNY New Paltz since 1993.
His recent research focus is in the area of supply chain cash
flow risk management where he applies mathematical
programming and simulation techniques to identify the best
policy. He
has published articles in Decision Support Systems, Discrete
Mathematics, Interfaces,
Mathematical
Programming, Naval Research Logistics, Information Sciences, and
Omega.
From 2006 to 2013, Dr. Tsai served as the Associate Dean of
the School of Business, SUNY New Paltz, and led the school's effort to
achieve its initial AACSB (The Association to Advance Collegiate
Schools of Business) Accreditation. He also served
as the Interim Dean during the 2013-2014 academic year.
Before his
academic
career, Dr. Tsai was a production controller and a special assistant to
the CEO of a Taiwan based multi-national corporation. He had also
helped
an Internet telephony startup in Washington DC to design and setup its
operations.
Dr. Tsai teaches courses such as Accounting Information
Systems, Business Decision System Systems, and Managing Operations
&
Information
Technology. He is a member of the Institute of Operations
Research and Management Sciences (INFORMS), and the Decision Sciences
Institute
(DSI).
