In search of a simple living situation

I am transfering to New Paltz this fall and am in search of a place to live for the next year or 2. I intend on living in New Paltz year-round during this period. I have an outdoor cat. I am a chef and I work alot.  I will not be home often between work and school. I enjoy working outside and fixing things, therefore living situations that involve work in exchange for a place to stay are welcome. Thank you
