Black's Law Dictionary.
This dictionary is on closed reserve under call number KF156 .B53.
Ask for it at the circulation desk. It explains practically every legal
word and phrase you will find in law related writings. It is a very
popular reference book among law students. If you are sure you are going
to law school some day this is definitely a book you can buy now and use
for a long time. Do not buy the paper back version, which is not as
complete as the hard-bound copy. I paid $30 for my copy several years ago.
Watch out for the "deluxe edition." It is no better than the standard
hard-bound copy but it has a fancy binding at a fancy price.
The Guide to American Law: Everyone's Legal Encyclopedia.
This is a twelve volume set that is shelved in the reference section,
under call number KF156 .G77. It contains clear explanations of important
legal concepts.
Corpus Juris Secundum.
This is a massive encyclopedia of more than 150 volumes. It is
shelved in the reference section under call number KF155 .A3. It contains
very detailed discussions of virtually every area of law, including foot-note references to cases and statutes from every state. It has a very
comprehensive table of contents and index.
