COURSES TAUGHT
Abnormal Psychology [PSY412]
This course is designed to provide students with an
overview of abnormal psychology that is congruent with the
American Psychiatric
Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
Throughout the
course students will be exposed to a variety of information
related to abnormal behavior, including diagnostic
criteria, etiology,
progression, and treatment of psychological disorders. Current theory and
research will be
emphasized throughout the course and students will be
encouraged to critically evaluate approaches to classifying
and treating
“abnormal behavior.”
The Psychology of Childhood Trauma - Seminar in Psychology [PSY498]
This course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive
overview of childhood trauma and posttraumatic
stress in children and
adolescents. Students will become familiar with the subtypes of childhood trauma, symptoms
of child traumatic stress, effects of childhood trauma on children
and families, connections between child
development and traumatic stress, and treatment interventions that promote recovery. This course is designed for
students who are interested in
learning more about child psychology and trauma and is especially ideal
for students
who are considering the
possibility of working with children and adolescents post-graduation.
