Biography

 

Dr. Sener holds an M.A. and a Ph.D. from the Claremont Graduate University and has taught at the Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Bogazici University in Istanbul and the University of Wisconsin in Whitewater. She has significant investment and development banking experience and has served as the former President and Chairman of the Board of Directors for the State Investment Bank of Turkey. She is the first woman President of any bank in Turkey. She has consulted on financing and appraisal of investment projects, financial budgeting and joint ventures for the World Bank, Toshe Ross, Thyssen, Eczacibasi, and Mustad International and others. Dr. Sener has published extensively on global equity investing and asset allocation, currency hedging, emerging markets, international capital markets and banking, effects of inflation on financing and investment decisions, investment project appraisal and applied demand analysis. She has conducted many international and national workshops and conferences in the U.S.A., Europe and the Far East, and has produced handbooks for brokers and investment project managers. Dr. Sener has been the recipient of major international grants such as the Fullbright U.S.A. Government Grant, several grants given by the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development, the European Union, the Agency for International Development, the French and Turkish Governments. She has been given many SUNY-New Paltz Teaching and Research Awards and Chancellor’s Research and Scholarship Recognition Award for 2003. Dr. Sener has received the title of the Honorary Professor by Tashkent State University of Economics as well.
