Sally Schultz


Professor Schultz earned a B.A. in anthropology from SUNY New Paltz, an M.S. in accounting from SUNY Albany, and a Ph.D. in accounting from The Pennsylvania State University, where her dissertation research was funded by an Ernst and Whinney grant.  She is a Certified Management Accountant, and a member of the American Accounting Association, the Academy of Accounting Historians, The Institute of Management Accountants, and Beta Gamma Sigma.  She serves as faculty advisor to Beta Sigma Delta.  

Dr. Schultz teaches courses in financial and managerial accounting, intermediate accounting, and accounting theory.  Her research interests are in financial accounting and accounting history, and she is involved in an ongoing study of the financial records left by New Paltz's early settlers and their descendents.  Her articles have appeared in The Accounting Historians Journal, Accounting History, New York History, Journal of Business and Behavioral Sciences, Journal of Accounting and Finance Research, Journal of Applied Business Research, and The Hudson River Valley Review. 

A member of the New Paltz faculty since 1984, Professor Schultz served as coordinator of the accounting program until 1993.  She is married to the artist Thomas Stratton and enjoys walking with their golden retriever and studying classical ballet.
