Lots of words = a statement!
Thequickbrownfox is a social marketing campaign dedicated to educating young people about the advantages of being healthy & active by managing the time they spend using technology.
Let's be clear: We love technology. Computers have changed the world time and time again, cell phones and the internet have redefined communication, and we don't know what we'd do if we missed the next episode of Grey's Anatomy. That said, we all have our extremely wasteful moments, be they filled with checking our favorite social networking website for a disgusting amount of time, channel surfing, talking to our friends online until our parents get up for work, or otherwise. We think, by cutting into some of that time, you can find more time to get active.
Computers and, more specifically, the internet (and television too!), despite their obviously magnificent and wonderful uses, can become a burden on the lives of a user when the technology is exhausted. People might feel like they have no time for any extra-curricular activities because they spend so much time doing something they enjoy, but the obvious truth is that the person simply finds it easier to sit for hours on end in front of a screen because it's comfortable and, we'll admit, probably very enjoyable. That person, however, might also face the obligatory case of poor health and diet, and certainly doesn't realize that a simple routine of diet and exercise would not only fix the problem, but actually make their life better. Having more energy means needing less sleep. Needing less sleep means having more time to do what you want throughout the day and, essentially, that you gain time. With that extra time, you can do the lazy things you would be doing if you hadn't began the routine. You're basically not losing any time.
Case in point – we're not saying "Stop using technology." We're saying this instead: Find the time you think you're overusing technology or, for that matter, anything, and use that time to get active. The "a healthy diet and good exercise" part may sound like a chore, but you may learn to enjoy it. We're not big fans of any specific diet campaign, as we reserve judgement and prefer to think they just want our money. On a related note, we're also not suggesting you create a rigorous routine. An apple a day, a mile a day is fine with us. Figure out what you can do to cut down on computer time to get healthy. Then, do it.
