Habits : Groups of 4-12 birds.
Diet : Fruits, nuts, seeds, and vegetable matter.
Also called the yellow conure, the sun conure travels in noisy flocks of up to 30 birds, with more congregating at fruit trees. Despite its bright color, the sun conure can be inconspicuous when it sits among foliage. It feeds in large groups, always staying close to its mate. Sexes are similar. They live in forests where the task of raising the young is shared by both parents. At birth, a young sun conure has no feathers, but as it matures, it has a green tinge to its developing feathers. Common, but it is threatened by trapping for the live-bird trade.
