Date: _____________
Departments with courses in any of the six areas listed below must
submit this form to the GE Board by Monday, November 28th. This plan is due then, even if actual
assessments will be performed much later.
(Send materials to: David Hobby,
Chair, GE Board, FOB E3.)
Attach Course GE Assessment Plans for all of the course/area
combinations you list in (2).
Provide at least one sample rubric (or equivalent) per area. The remaining rubrics are due two weeks
before the start of the semester in which the course/area is liable to be
assessed.
The GE Board will review plans to be sure they are acceptable to the
GEAR group, and then forward them to Laurel Garrick Duhaney, Associate Provost.
1. Describe the
mechanism your department will use to review the results of its GE assessments
with the aim of improving the courses assessed
("closing the loop") :
After
each round of assessment, all instructors of GE courses in the department will
meet. They will review the departmental
summaries, and use them in addition to their own observations as a basis for
discussion. The focus of this discussion
will be on suggesting changes in the structure of the department's courses that
might lead to a greater level of success
in meeting the objectives. The
department chair will then write a summary of these deliberations and proposed
changes. The summary will be presented
to the department as a whole, and a copy will be forwarded to the GE Board.
