Liberal Arts and Sciences Senate Subcommittee C Meeting

Tuesday, October 1, 2002, 3:30pm

Members present: Bruce Milem (Philosophy), Glenn Geher (Psychology, chair), Susan Lehrer (Sociology), Jeff Miller (Political Science)

Members absent: A representative from the Nursing Department

(1) Announcements: No official announcements were made; Glenn said he would contact Joel about updating the routing form for course approval.

(2) Two nursing proposals, 70310 (Leadership and Management) and 70422 (Community Health) were tabled for two basic reasons. First, no representative from Nursing was in attendance. Current policy of the Senate and it subcommittees suggests that proposals from departments in which no representative attends will not be considered. Further, the larger LAS Senate body has not yet discussed issues and policies regarding ‘partial’ online classes. We are waiting for guidance from the Senate before we move forward in addressing such courses as per the recommendation of our presiding officer.

(3) A proposal for 77370 (United Nations Semester) was reviewed. We approved this proposal unanimously.
