Sorting Messages in Zimbra

Sorting messages

There are three ways to move messages between folders.

  1. You can move a single message by dragging and dropping that message into the desired folder
  2. You can move multiple messages by checking the check box next to each message you want to move, then dragging and dropping them (once multiple messages are checked, you just have to drag and drop one to get all checked messages) into the desired folder.
  3. You can also right click on messages and choose the Move option. This can be done on a single message, or multiple messages if they are checked as in option 2.

Tagging messages

You can also tag messages in Zimbra. Tagging messages assigns a label to messages and keeps a separate index of those messages. You can tag messages in several different folders, but still see those messages all together by clicking on that tag in the "Tag list" in the left hand side of Zimbra (shown in the image below in the purple square).

To tag a message, click on the message you want to tag and use the 'tag' menu at the top (to the right of the Junk button, indicated with the green arrow above). When you click on the tag menu you will have the option to:

  1. Create a new tag
  2. Assign an existing tag
  3. Remove a tag from a message

Each message can have multiple tags. You can also tag multiple messages at a time by using the check boxes to the left of messages.
