Lecture on April 5th by Dr. Tarun Biswas
SIAM Lecture Series Presents Dr. Tarun Biswas, physics
Quantum Magic: The Stern-Gerlach Version
The process of quantum state collapse as a result of observation
might be the most "mysterious" concept in quantum physics. A
change of state of a system over time is expected to happen
according to some equation of motion. In classical physics, these
equations come from Newton's laws. The equivalent of Newton's
Meeting on 3/28 and Lecture soon!
SIAM will be meeting this Wednesday in FOB S-12 math conference room at 4:30pm. Please bring your laptop as we will be independently exploring Mathematica's useful features and tools to integrate, plot and solve ODE's (and more!). Professors Dominici and Cartwright will be there to help students with questions as they learn to use the program. &nb
Let's Learn Some Mathematica -- 3/14/2012
Hey everyone,
At our next SIAM meeting (4:30pm on Wednesday in FOB S-12), Professor Dominici will be teaching everyone how to use basic commands & tools in Mathematica. Professor Dominici asks that students bring their laptop computers with Mathematica already installed, and a link to download the application is provided below.

Meeting Tomorrow
Hey everyone,
SIAM will be meeting tomorrow afternoon in the math dept conference room in Faculty Office Building S-12. We will be finalizing details and the travel roster for the trip to the HRUMC on Saturday April 21st. If you are interested in attending the conference, please make sure to come to the meeting tomorrow, and if you can't make it please email me to let me know that you are interested. We will be leaving the Friday before the conference and returning Saturday evening.
Thanks and see you all tomorrow.

Spring 2012 General Interest Meeting
SIAM is welcoming students interested in math and science to join a vibrant, multidisciplinary group focused on finding practical applications of mathematics in both science and engineering. SIAM provides students an opportunity to perform and present independent undergraduate research with the support of professional mathematicians and physicists. This event will be held in the math department conference room (FOB S-12) at 4:30 pm on Wednesday, February 8th.
Spring 2012 first SIAM meeting Thursday January 26th 4:30pm
SIAM will have its first meeting of the spring 2012 semester January 26th at 4:30pm in FOB S-12, the mathematics conference room. This will be a precursor to our Spring '12 general interest meeting, and we'll be discussing leadership opportunities for SIAM members to actively participate in club affairs. Club officer openings will include web developer and treasurer.
SIAM Integration Bee December 7th
Wednesday December 7th SIAM will have its Integration Bee in CSB Auditorium from 5 to 7 pm. Participation is free for all undergraduate students. Signup starts at 4:30pm. Prerequisite is calculus II. Snacks and refreshments will be provided!
