Organizational Communication
Organizational Communications is a concentration in the Communication and Media department at SUNY New Paltz. This concentration's focus is on communication in the business world. In this major, you will learn communication skills that will aide you in all your life's endeavors, but specifically in a career in an organization of any kind.
The major focuses heavily on group work, public speaking, presentations, and analysis thereof. You will learn to corroborate with others towards a common goal, make professional presentations, interpret others' behaviors, and interact effectively with co-workers. Writing is an important skill that is stressed heavily. A good writer is a good communicator. You will learn how to present yourself professionally and how to handle different personalities you will be confronted with in any business situation. Organizational Communication gives you the knowledge of how to present yourself as a value to a company-- a necessary edge.
Communication is the strongest tool that man has. It is our highly developed skills of interaction that has allowed us to build societies and rise above the natural order. It is what defines us as human beings. What better skill is there to study than that?
