  • Details:  Be sure to come to Communication & Media Week's final event, a keynote presentation by corporate storyteller Randy Savicky! The event starts at 6PM in the College Terrace, then at 7PM The Little Rebellion Re-Launch party will begin! There will be refreshments and even some hot food! Don't miss it!

Internship & Resume Workshop!

  • Details: Join us TONIGHT for our internship and resume workshop! Prof. Bob Miller and Beth Anne King from the Career Resource Center will be there to give you feedback, so be sure to bring your resume!!

    Make sure you stick around after the event if you want to be involved in the Out of the Darkness PSA shoot tomorrow! We will be finalizing plans for the shoot! Hope to see you there!

Out of The Darkness

Hey everyone. We've teamed up with the Design Society to promote the Out of the Darkness walk on May 1st.

Our goal here is to meet a theme which helps raise awareness and prevent teen suicide. Design Society is creating flyers and we're going to piece together a video. We're going to need volunteers...Here's how to help:

  • Show up Monday, March28th (First Monday after Break)
    7:30pm CSB 54
  • Come with 5 simple words to describe the feelings of a suicidal teen. (ie. Lonely, Depressed...)
  • Bring a black cloth wide enough to wrap around your face
    (doesn't that sound good?)

On Wednesday, March 30th we will be meeting again at our usual time. Anyone who knows how to gain access to one of the theatres please email me at kmas29@newpaltz.edu.

Photoshop Workshop!

    We are hosting a workshop on how to use photoshop. Photoshop and other editing programs have become an increasing neccesity skill for many employers. So why not take the opportunity to get started?

    If not, come and visit anyway and see what our club is all about. If you're a Comm/Media major this may be especially relevant to you and your future. =]

    We're looking to re-design our club logo so come out and get involved!! The new design will be featured here, on the website, as well as club t-shirts and banners!

New CMS Website Goes Live!

So you may have noticed that the Communication and Media Society website has gotten something of a facelift.  In order to better reflect the changing media landscape and to stay current with trends in new media, we have redesigned the CMS website!

In addition to enormous cosmetic and structural changes, the new site offers better student control over content and a completely redesigned, 'back-end' to improve webmaster workflow.

Ultimately, these changes will allow students to take more control and allow the reigns of power to transfer easily as students move up through and out of New Paltz.

New York Women in Communication Conference

Students attended a Career Conference with key note speakers Debbye Turner Bell, Correspondent, CBS News' The Early Show and Kate White, Editor-in-Chief, Cosmopolitan at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Manhattan. Different lectures will also be featured in the Broadcast Journalism, Digital Media, Public Relations, Newspaper, Entrepreneurship, Advertising, Magazine, TV Production and Marketing fields.
