Professional

I am an assistant professor of geography here at SUNY-New Paltz. I teach a wide range of geography classes including: Geographic Information Systems, Physical Geography, Resource Management, World Geography, and whatever else might need teaching.  I got my bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Kansas in East Asian Language and Culture, and Geography, respectively.  My PhD is in Geography from Penn State University.  My research interests include man-made hazards, especially how they affect human populations, Asian immigration to the United States, and the use of GIS in education.

Personal

My first nineteen years were spent in New Hampshire where I lived in the small town of Wilton, but ended up spending a great deal of time in Manchester, going to high school, etc.  After that I lived, in order, in Lawrence, Kansas; Taipei, Taiwan; Lawrence, Kansas; Taipei, Taiwan; State College, Pennsylvania; Los Angeles, California; Valdosta, Georgia; and now Tillson/New Paltz, NY.  During my second stint in Kansas, I met my wonderful, beautiful wife, May.  We now have two wonderful, beautiful children, Ryan (born 1993), and Geoffrey (born 1998).  My hobby is anything outside, especially if I can do it with my family.
